Stuck in Nepal by Nitu Ghale
STUCK IN NEPAL: Raj (name changed), 27, works as a welder in Saudi Arabia. He had been gone for four years when he decided it was time to visit his family five months ago. As he was preparing to leave, Nepal went into a nationwide lockdown, and Raj has been stuck in Nepal. He earns Rs 60,000 per month and supports his family in Nepal.
Fortunately for him, he found a job as a welder at the bridge in Satdobato, but it is temporary and will leave for Saudi Arabia the first chance he gets. Nepal announced that the international flights will resume from 17 August, and Raj is hoping to be one of the first ones to make out. “My future and the future of my family is in Saudi Arabia,” says Raj, “My employers are good people, and I am happy there, I don’t see a future in Nepal and I will continue to work abroad as long as I can.”
