Introduction to Visual Storytelling

A one month introductory course in photography and visual storytelling. Course suited for beginners and emerging photographers.

COURSE TIMING:
Weekdays 4 – 7 PM
Weekends 10 AM – 1 PM

VENUE: Yala Maya Kendra, Patan Dhoka

COURSE COVERS:

• Introduction and history of photography
• Basic techniques (camera and lens function, exposure, metering, light, depth of field and motion, pan, silhouette, ISO, etc)
• Ethics of photography
• Visual styles and master photographers
• Street photography
• Basic storytelling
• Introduction to digital post production/ digital workflow
• Basic Photoshop techniques
• Note taking, research and caption writing
• Photo editing

Teaching will be based on DSLR functions (Laptop recommended but not mandatory)

COURSE TUTORS

Ashesh Rajbansh is a freelance photographer based in Kathmandu and has been a tutor for many Canon workshops.

Frédéric Lecloux is a traveller, a writer and a photographer based in southern France. His work is distributed by Agence VU and represented by Gallery Emotion-Lydie Trigano, in Paris.

Kunda Dixit is a respected Nepali journalist, and publisher of Nepali Times. He is also the visionary behind ‘A People War’ trilogy of books and traveling exhibitions.

Munem Wasif is an award-winning photographer based in Dhaka, Bangladesh and represented by Agence VU. He is a graduate of, and now teacher at Pathshala – South Asian Media Academy. Wasif has been to Nepal for two previous workshops.

NayanTara Gurung Kakshapati is a freelance photographer based in Kathmandu, Nepal. She is one of the co-founder of photo.circle.

Tanzim Wahab is a photographer based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is a graduate of, and now teacher at Pathshala – South Asian Media Academy.
