Introduction to Storytelling @ Climate+Change

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
This intensive two-week workshop is designed for photographers who have a technical base in digital photography and now want to take their skills to the next level. The workshop will introduce photographers to working on narratives and telling stories. Participants will work on one project related to issues of climate change, sustainable living, migration and other themes related to the on-going exhibition Climate+Change and attempt to produce a story by the end of the workshop. Selected works will be exhibited at Climate+Change in March. Participants should be prepared to work hard and push their limits!
Course will cover the following;
- Introduction to storytelling
- Aesthetics I – Composition and content
- Aesthics II – Light
- Ethics in photography
- Visual styles and master photographers
- Digital workflow and post-production (Bridge, Photoshop)
- Introduction to editing
- Note taking, research and caption writing
- Introduction to Climate+Change issues
WORKSHOP DETAILS
Venue: Nepal Art Council, Babar Mahal and photo.circle HQ, Jhamsikhel
Timing: 2pm – 6pm on weekdays, 10am – 4pm on Saturdays
Language: Nepali + English
Fee: NRs. 4000 plus 13% VAT

REQUIREMENTS
- Participants should have a technical base in photography.
- Participants should have their own DSLR cameras.
- Participants should be able to commit to the workshop fulltime.
APPLICATION
- This workshop is open to all interested, but priority will be given to young Nepali photographers.
- Travel grants are available for Nepali participants from outside Kathmandu valley. Please state in your application if you would like to apply for a travel grant. Travel grant will cover bus fare to Kathmandu and back. Participant will be responsible for local accommodation herself/himself.
