Born in 1960, Chiranjivi Makaju was raised in Dhulikhel. He passed his School Leaving Certificate exams from Sanjeebani High School in Dhulikhel, Kavre and began his journey of self study and practice in the arts in 1986. Particularly focusing on Buddhist Bahals, Bihars of the Kathmandu valley, Durbar Squares and landscapes, Makaju prefers pen and ink and water colors. A good proportion of the 4000 pieces of work that Makaju has produced is displayed all year around at the Nawa Ranga Guest House in Dhulikhel. Makaju finds inspiration in the literary works of Laxmi Prasad Devkota and Parijat.
