design show

30 january to 6 march
@ the bakery café pulchowk

at photo.circle we are always on the lookout for creative beings and opportunities to showcase different art forms. this month we present the works of four graphic artists and one design firm:

kripa joshi
A recent graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York, Kripa’s visual language is inspired by Maithili folk art traditions. Humor is an important aspect of her work. With her central character Miss Moti, she explores issues of weight and negative body image. Miss Moti is big and plump and seemingly ordinary, however, as her fertile imagination blurs the line between fantasy and reality, it becomes clear that her life, like her personality, is indeed extraordinary!

sachin yogol shrestha
Sachin has worked as Senior Graphic Designer for many well known advertising campaigns including those of Standard Chartered Bank and Fed Ex Express. He has worked at leading Nepali graphic design hubs such as ScanPro and Maxpro and taught Graphic Design at the Kathmandu University Center for Art and Design. Shrestha’s background in the arts and his interest in landscape and historic paintings combined with music lends him a great deal of creative energy. Born in 1983, he currently works as a Senior Graphic Designer at yet another leading firm in the design and advertising industry, Business Advantage.

ruban tamrakar
Ruban began designing 7 years ago and received a Bachelors Degree in Advertising from St Cloud State University in Minnesota. He believes that design is a visual solution to a problem. Effective design makes viewing important information easy, and makes the experience visually exciting at the same time. Tamrakar likes to keep his designs simple and strong, and has a keen interest in vector art.

shivendra patrabansh
Trained as an architect, Shivendra believes in Mies Van Der Rohe’s “less is more”. His clean and clutter-less designs show his inclination towards Minimalism. He likes to credit the finesse in his works to his training in architecture and his exposure in Bangladesh. In the past 10 years, Patrabansh has been involved in local and international projects in web, print, identity and multimedia, and runs his own design studio Cell-a Private Limited. More of his works can be seen at www.cell-a.com.
